Sean O'Brien Wow, this is the best industrial music I've heard since about 1980. Not sure if the artists see it as "industrial" music, but it's top shelf old school heavy industrial music. The time is now right for these sounds, this is the ideal soundtrack. Although super heavy, it flows in a sensational way, at low volume it's almost soothing, but one day I will need to play this on loop at full volume for the benefit of many people nearby.

Using a minimalist approach to sound and an improvisor's touch to composition, Otiose Trio pull together a series of expansive yet focussed sessions together on their debut album Cartacoethes: the uncontrollable compulsion to see maps everywhere. Saxophonist Rhys Butler (a mainstay of the annual SoundOut festival in Canberra) pushes air into tone and texture as laptop whizzes Paul Heslin (Wood & Wire) and Reuben Ingall (Feral Media) contort and blur acoustic sound into digital pulse, wave, crackle and hum.
